Chris Giwa arrived at the Secretariat of NFF to assume the position of the president of the Federation

According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Chris Giwa arrived on Monday at the Secretariat of the Football Federation of Nigeria with some security agents to assume the position of substantive president of the Federation.

Giwa also spoke with reporters about his assumption of the office in line with the decision of the Supreme Court on June 5 in the boardroom.

He said the court had annulled the parallel elections held in Warri by the former president, Amaju Pinnick, and confirmed him as president.

"I am here to claim my term as president, elected on August 26, 2014.

"We expected the other board to complete preparations for the World Cup so that we can take over," Giwa said.

The new head of the Federation promised to undertake the reconciliation of all injured members for the success of the Federation.

He explained that Nigeria's sovereignty could not be threatened by any foreign interest, and said that NFF operated in tandem with the Constitution.

According to him, we are grateful to God for making it possible for us to reclaim our mandate and give good results to the Nigerians.

The Nigeria News Agency reports that Chris Giwa was allegedly elected president of the NFF on August 26, 2014, but the election was not recognized by FIFA.

Finally, FIFA supervised other elections on September 30 in Warri, state of the delta, after having threatened to ban Nigeria all its activities. Amaju Pinnick was finally elected with 32 votes out of 44 votes and entered office.

After the development, Giwa pursued his case before the Court of Arbitration for Sport, where he lost and was suspended from football-related activities by FIFA.

However, on June 5, the Supreme Court annulled Pinnick's election and recognized Giwa as the substantive president.

Some members of the board that followed Giwa were: the president of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Obinna Ogba; board member representing North West, Shehu Adamu; Sanni Ferma for the northeast; member of the board of directors representing South South, Johnson Effiong; Sunday Ajayi for South West and Yaya Adams for North Central.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth and Sports ordered the Nigeria Football Federation on Monday to comply with the ruling of the Supreme Court, which annulled the elections to the Executive Committee of the Federation held on September 30, 2014.

The directive was delivered in a statement by the Special Media Assistant to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, on Monday in Abuja.

According to the statement, the verdict of the Supreme Court restored the orders of the Federal Superior Court, which annuls the supposed election of the current Executive Committee of the NFF.
