Senator Dino Melaye Respond To Plans By APC Lawmakers To Impeach Benue Governor

Dino Melaye, Senator representing Kogi West, who recently left the Congress of Progressive Peoples, APC, at the Democratic Party of Peoples, PDP, condemned the plans of the legislators of the Allied Progressive Congress to remove Governor Samuel Ortom from the state from Benue.

The controversial legislator said only eight lawmakers ran out of constitutional powers to remove him from office.

Melaye in a series of tweets insisted that the dismissal of a governor in Nigeria requires more than eight legislators

He wrote: "Reaching a governor of a state in Nigeria is a very serious matter

One could imagine him relaxed and sitting on a cooler with an umbrella protecting him from the rays of the sun while his wife was struggling with the tire of the car with a key in his hand while carrying his wedding.

Some feminists have disapproved of the concept of image while others have judged it so low. The identity of the couple remains unknown because the image continues to generate arguments online.

17-Year-Old Boy Who Emerged 2018 UTME Highest Scorer Reveals How He Did It

In an exclusive interview with The Education Report, Ape Terhemba Moses, who emerged the highest scorer in the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) out of 1,653,127 million candidates that sat for the exam. He scored 354 marks and revealed that excellence in life demands hard work, determination to succeed and prayers.

The former student of Covenant Christian International College, Makurdi, Benue State disclosed how he became used to putting himself in comfortable positions to fight sleep so he could study all night.

In the May/June 2018 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), he obtained: English Language C4, Mathematics A1, Biology B2, Chemistry B3, Physics A1, Civic Education A1, Further Mathematics A1, Geography B3 and Data Processing A1.

BACKGROUND

I am 17 years old from Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State. I am Tiv by tribe, a Christian and from the family of Mr and Mrs Daniel Ape. My father works in the state High Court while my mum is a university librarian with the Federal University, Lafia.

IN THE BEGINNING

From Basic school, I was never looked upon as a bright student. But it all came to a point in my Basic 5 when my Maths teacher took interest in me and encouraged me to always do my assignments. He instilled fear in me to always do my assignments and if I didn’t do it, I was sure of being punished. In doing that, I discovered that I was improving in Mathematics. And by the time I got to Basic 6, I had improved so well that I was one of the best in the subject in my class. When I entered Junior Secondary School (JSS1), I already had a grasp of most of the things we were being taught. Another thing that really helped me in secondary school was the way my seniors handled me. I was in Glory hostel in JSS 1. And because I was not used to the boarding system, I was always sleeping. But my seniors helped me and I began to read at night. They used to tap me from sleeping if I sleep off or out rightly woke me up from the bed. We developed methods of reading like putting our legs inside water while reading to prevent us from sleeping. Sometimes, I put pillows under my knees so that I would be uncomfortable and fall off if I wanted to sleep. That kept me going. I was also scared that my position that term would not be good enough but to my surprise, I came 5th. I discovered that if I didn’t put in as much efforts as I wanted and I still came 5th, then, I could do better with a little more effort. I felt challenged seeing my juniors most of whom were girls coming first in class while I was going home with a 5th position. My parents also played a big role in ensuring that I emerged the best. I was motivated further when I entered the senior class where I was exposed to school competitions. The first competition I went was the Olympiad competition. When I got there, I saw my mates from other schools. The questions were tough but I knew they were not insurmountable. I just believed it was the same thing they taught me that they are going to base the questions on. So, I saw no difference. In other competitions I attended too, I discovered that students were trained specifically for those competitions and they go there and do well. I represented my school in NNPC competition and to my surprise, I came 4th in the whole Benue State. I was further challenged because to my standard, I didn’t really prepare for that competition because I was scared. I came back and started revising my SS1and SS2 notes. Another thing that helped me was when I wrote the Nov/Dec 2017 WASSCE in SS2. That really helped me to know my strong and weak points and to work on those weak points while also ensuring I maintained or sustained my strong points.

ON THE UTME DAY

Before the real UTME, he sat for the mock examination and was not happy with the result, he scored 298. I was not happy with the score because last year’s highest score in the school was 299 and the school was mounting pressure on students to get highesT marks than the previous set. I tried hard but when I went for that mock examination, my result was one point below the highest scorer last year. I set a higher standard for myself because my teachers made me believe that I could do better than that. For instance, during the holidays, one of my teachers met me and told me that I should not look at the past record of the school but I should aim higher. My form teacher also told me same that what the school is jubilating about, other schools are celebrating higher scores than that. That made me to buckle up and read more. When I entered the examination hall I was not confident but I just said, God, please help me because I usually make errors whenever I’m in haste or when I’m being timed or when I’m under tension. Surprisingly, that day after I finished answering all the questions, I had sometime to still go through my work and make necessary corrections. That helped me a lot.

FUTURE PLANS

I want to become a software programmer. My plan is to gain admission into the University of Lagos to study along that line.

ADVICE TO YOUNGER STUDENTS

They should not wait until they get to a certain stage before trying to make a positive difference. It is never too early to begin to make a difference. Whether they are in Basic six, JSS 1, SS 11, SS111 or preparing to write external examinations, they can still performance well, they have all it takes to excel. I want them to know that everybody has potentials to make it in life. Just put in your best and leave the rest to God.

How 'Money Bags' Destroy Nigeria's Democracy By Sharing Money For Votes

The Not-Too-Young-To-Run Movement on Monday said Nigeria’s democracy was not delivering its dividends adequately due to “money bag politics’’.

A member of the group, Mr Hamzat Lawal, stated this to newsmen in Abuja at the National Day of Action on Youth Candidacy and Democratic Party Primaries briefing.

According to Lawal, it is quite sad that in Nigeria’s political history, money bags and `god father’ is really affecting the nation.

“This is why we have not enjoyed the dividends of democracy and good governance.

“As a movement, that is why we have now highlighted intended cost for picking nomination forms which is N2,000,000 for presidential aspirant, N1, 000, 000 for governorship aspirant and N600, 000 for senatorial aspirant.

“For House of Assembly aspirant, the form should be N200, 000 while that of House of Representatives aspirant should be N400, 000.

“We need to try as much as possible to ensure that election is not all about money because we know that to the money bags, election is an investment.”

Lawal said that the money bags often put money into campaigns so that they could recuperate it after election.

He said that Not-Too-Young-To-Run Movement and youths were now aware of the money politics, adding that “we are working with women group to ensure that money does not play a critical role in 2019,” he said.

He said that this was because if money played a role, the money bags would want to recoup their investment post 2019 and it meant therefore, that Nigerians would not have quality welfare.

Lawal said that the group would monitor closely how money would exchange hands in 2019 and warned that if it did, the people involved would be exposed.

Ms Nana Nwachukwu, another member of the group, said that the movement was optimistic about competent young men and women emerging as aspirants for the 2019 elections.

Nwachukwu said that the signing into law of the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill addressed a major impediment to youth participation in politics.

She said that while it was a remarkable feat, the goal of achieving increased youth representation in elective offices would remain a dream if other barriers were not removed.

She said that movement believed that the right to political participation was a constitutionally guaranteed right exercised through voting at elections or running for public office.

According to Nwachukwu, until Nigeria has independent candidacy, political parties remain the only platform to exercise this right to political participation.

She said that political parties were, therefore, essential to democracy but that the lack of internal party democracy and high cost of party nomination continually undermined the emergence of youth and women.

“We remain resolute in our belief that increased representation of young men and women and persons with disability in political office will enhance the quality of democracy and governance.

“So, Aug. 8, 2018 has been declared as the National Day of Action on Youth Candidacy and Democratic Party Primaries.

“We will be organising a march to the national and state offices of political parties to press the demands for youth inclusion.

“It is a demand march to political parties as they prepare to hold primary elections to select candidates for the 2019 general elections.

“The National Day of Action is scheduled to hold simultaneously in Abuja, as well as the 36 states across the country on the same date to press for guidelines in favour of youths,” she said.

'How I escaped from my abductors and stayed on a tree for 11-hours' - Senator Dino Melaye

Senator Dino Melaye in a lengthy interview with Premium Times told his own version of what he said was taking place along the Abuja-Lokoja highway that led to his disappearance for nearly 24 hours.

The senator confirmed that he had not been kidnapped, but that he was not the architect of his ordeal either. He said he was traveling from Abuja to Lokoja for a court appearance Thursday morning and shortly after passing Gwagwalada, about 50 kilometers southwest of Abuja, a convoy of three vehicles drove his vehicle, intercepting him on the highway and forcing him to stop.

According to him, the attackers tried to open fire to break into the vehicle, to realize that it was a well-armored vehicle with bullets. Without much time to lose on the scene, the attackers imagined an alternative.

"They started screaming that they wanted to burn me, they said" burn it, burn it "and they crossed the street to get tires to set the vehicle on fire," said Melaye. As the assailants scattered in different directions to search for tires, Melaye said he feared for his life and made an instinctive calculation for jumping into the bush, rather than staying in the car in defiance.

"I jumped into the bush and started running, they chased me and I was able to overtake them and climb a tree, I was above the three when I saw them go by looking for frantically for me, when they did not find me, they also ran back, "he said.

The senator said it was on the tree that he perched until his attackers left. While he was on the tree, he saw four of them pass, but remained silent to avoid being detected. He will then spend 11 hours trying to make sure that he will not run out of immediate danger for his attackers and that he will work his way out of the invasive weeds.

He also said that he could not identify any of them, even though there was an identification parade by the authorities, largely because he was more worried about his survival than anything else about it. traumatic moment. The senator said that he believed that those who were trying to attack him were police sponsored elements. He said when he appeared in court on Wednesday for his suicide attempt at the Federal Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Apo, he saw men following him after the proceedings.

He described the vehicles that the men were driving as two Toyota Hilux trucks and a Toyota Sienna minivan. "They were exactly the same vehicle that used to attack me on Thursday morning," he said. He was traveling to Lokoja in a vehicle that was not yet known to him, in order to conceal his move to those who followed him.

"I was going in a totally different vehicle, but I asked my brother to drive behind me in an SUV as a back-up, but I was shocked to see the attackers running in the middle, creating a wall between my brother and I before attacking me, "he said.

He added that "for a start, the federal government and the police in particular have combined five cases against me in court. I have never refused to appear in the courts in the five separate cases. "

He said that the statement that he was trying to avoid court appearance should immediately ring false minds, especially since he was in court the day before. In addition, the court appearance in Lokoja was more a matter of symbolism than of substance. It was because he had learned from his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, that the case would not be heard on Thursday because the prosecutor had already written to notify his unavoidable absence and request an adjournment.

"Alex Izinyon is the prosecutor and he wrote to my lawyer to inform him that he would not appear in court on Thursday and that the judge should adjourn the case, so why not want to be in court when I know that nothing would happen to me? "I attended all the previous hearings and was told that the prosecutor wanted an adjournment I was released on bail a long time ago that I continue to enjoy. Would not want to go to court that day? There is no sense in this claim. It's completely against logic, "said Melaye.

Keke Rider Cries For Help As Wife Gives Birth To Five Babies In Anambra state

A Nnewi-based commercial cyclist (Keke NAPEP rider), Abuchi Odoh and his wife, Ndidi, a trainee seamstress, had an overdose of blessing when the woman gave birth to five quintuplets on Thursday.

Ms. Odoh, 30 years old, was delivered from the Caplets, four males and one female, by Caesarean section to the Maternity House of God, Obiuno Otolo, Nnewi, Anambra State. She said that she actually suspected that it would not be a single birth because of the seriousness of the pregnancy.

Before the birth of the quintuplets, she had given birth to three girls in one birth and a group of triplets, all boys, although two of the boys died later, one year and three months after giving birth.

Commenting on the results of the last pregnancy, the husband, Mr. Odoh, said he had never negotiated quintuplets because he was still fighting to feed his family, given his meager income.

When he was told that his wife had given birth to five babies, Odoh, 40, from Okparigbovoko Nsukka in Enugu State, said he wanted to flee the responsibility of taking care of the five babies not because he did it. does not appreciate the blessing, but because he did not know where to start to collect money to handle the crisis.

On his feelings about blended blessings, he said, "I'm a Keke NAPEP pilot, keke is mine, but it's very old, I never expected my wife to deliver quintuplets. I was expecting a baby and it was my prayer I can not afford one more besides the number we have already left only five extra babies to go one way I am shocked. It's about the blessing I wanted to run away yesterday but people are not holding me back because I'm not happy for the babies' gift but because
I have nothing to take care of them. "

Odoh called on the governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Anambra State, Dr. Willie Obiano, his deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke, organizations and all individuals to come to his rescue , saying, "Now, I am totally confused.

The nurse who gave birth to the baby woman at the maternity ward, Ms. Blessing Odoemena, said that when the woman did the first scan during pregnancy, the result showed twins, then the second scan showed triplets "but I never believed the results she hosted more than that. "She said she had in the past delivered the wife of all her babies and was able to know her system to some extent.

Odoemena stated that when the woman had three daughters at first, she was disturbed at not having children and said that she continued to advise her to be patient.

Chelsea To Sign Arsenal Midfielder, Aaron Ramsey

The star of Wales, who lost his contract next summer, and a rival club seem to monitor him.

Chelsea is preparing an offer of about £ 30 million ($ 39.3 million) to sign Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Even though Unai Emery sees Ramsey as an important figure in rebuilding his Gunners, the Welsh international has yet to sign a new contract at Emirates Stadium.

His current contract is up at the end of the upcoming season, and Chelsea is now ready to enter and attempt to close a contract at a reduced price.

Chelsea beat AC Milan in the race to sign Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Milan watched in pole position to bring the Argentine international to San Siro having offered him a contract worth £ 80,000 a week.

But Chelsea is willing to pay Higuain around £ 120,000 a week and is now close to finishing a move of £ 90 mli ($ 118m) to sign both forward and teammate Daniele Rugani.

The Old Lady is ready to let go several stars to buy the French

It is understood that Juventus and Pogba have a mutual interest, which played for the Old Lady between 2012 and 2016.

FG Sends combined security forces and fighter aircraft after Zamfara bandits

The federal government has assembled a 1,000-strong military force, including the army, air force, police and civil defense, to launch fierce attacks on bandits who terrorize villages and towns of the country. State of Zamfara.

Following the instructions of President Buhari, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has begun deploying fighter jets to Katsina, the closest airport in Zamfara State to respond immediately and effectively to the threat bandits.

This was not possible in the past because there was no fuel storage facility in Katsina, but the NAF found a solution to the problem. The President also authorized NAF's commitment to advanced satellite surveillance technology to assist in the accurate detection of bandits' movements and locations.

The government had to move in this direction because of the limitations of conventional surveillance, as the use of satellite technology could make the task of the NAF less problematic. Following the President's instructions, Chief of the Air Staff Sadiq Abubakar, air marshal, traveled to Gusau where he met with the deputy governor of the state.

The Chief of Staff reiterated the President's commitment never to abandon the victims of the attacks, reaffirming that security remains one of the pillars of his election promises and that no leader would be happy to see his own citizens killed by criminal groups the country.

It will be remembered that since his election, the President has kept his promises to re-equip and motivate the country's military and security services. The military and other security services are now better equipped and motivated to face the challenges of their responsibilities.

The Presidency, therefore, calls on all Nigerians to unite and speak with one voice on security issues and urges politicians to stop exploiting the challenges of national security. Those who pray for the president to fail in this effort can be likened to someone who stabs himself in the heart and celebrates it.

In this respect, security should not be reduced to petty politics, as it would only encourage terrorists and other deadly gangs. We therefore call on members of the Nigerian media to avoid unnecessary and deleterious sensationalism in covering events that limit national security.

The media should not in any way make bandits or terrorists feel like super stars because it could hurt us all. Terrorists seek maximum publicity and they do so by launching large-scale attacks against easy targets and the media must resist any attempt to play their hands involuntarily.

President Trump Walk Of Fame Star Will Stay Put Despite Violence

lightning rod for violence, but it's going to weather the storm and stay put because cops and the group that manages the Walk of Fame don't want it 86'd.

Law enforcement sources say the LAPD has met with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and both orgs realize they're between a rock and a hard place. They know by keeping Trump's star front and center on the famed Blvd., it will be at the center of what has become a civil war between raging Trump and anti-Trump factions.

Here's the problem, the Chamber and LAPD both agree it would be even worse to remove the star because that would embolden people to deface the stars of celebs they dislike. For example, if Trump's star is removed, Trump supporters might go after Jane Fonda's star. And, if her star is removed, others might retaliate by going after Clint Eastwood's star.

So, the decision has been made to keep Trump's star in its place, knowing it will probably be destroyed again, and possibly again and again and again. Even worse, the Chamber and LAPD are keenly aware the warring factions will be using the star as a battleground.

Carl Ikeme Offered Super Eagles Role

The Nigeria Football Federation has offered Carl Ikeme in the technical crew of the Super Eagles, following his premature retirement from active football.

Ikeme, on Friday, revealed his decision to hang his gloves as he continued his successful recovery from Leukemia, which was first diagnosed a year ago.

Prior to the Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper on the table, he racked up 10 caps for Nigeria - keeping seven clean sheets - having made his international debut in 2015.

His decision to withdraw with the hearts of tributes, including that of his goalkeeping colleagues.

And the NFF, in a statement signed by its general secretary Mohammed Sanusi, is offering to sponsor the 32-year-old's coaching race before drafting him in Gernot Rohr's backroom.
"Carl Ikeme was an embodiment of absolute dedication, commitment and patriotic fervor in the games that he played for the Super Eagles," read the statement.
"The circumstances of his retirement from the game are somewhat depressing, even as we thank God for his life."
"The Nigeria Football Federation will find the resources for a coaching race, and afterwards absorb the technical crew of the Super Eagles, which is the least we can for such a dedicated patriot."

The body also noted that they had been in the know on Ikeme 's decision since' a few weeks ago '.

"A few weeks ago, Mr. Amaju, Melvin Pinnick, NFF President and 1st Vice President of CAF, to intimate him on his (Ikeme's) desire to withdraw.
"Even though he was sad about it, the NFF President said," He said he would rather allow the player or his club to break the news. "

What APC Will Do If Saraki Joins PDP - Senator Abdullahi Adamu

Sen Abdullahi Adamu, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, in this interview speaks on what loyalists of the APC will do to Senate President Bukola Saraki if he eventually moves to the PDP. He also challenges the Senate President to be man enough to leave the APC.

Excerpts

What does the gale of defections in the Senate portend for the polity as we approach the 2019 elections?

Take it from me that our colleagues who are now members of the PDP have made the mistake of their lives; they have committed a political blunder. You can start counting the days of failure that confronts the PDP.

All along, the Tuesday you referred to was only watershed. Those of us who are following the political activities knew they have been plotting to go. But they were not honest enough with themselves let alone the party that they didn’t want to do so at the expense of the offices they hold. They wanted to defect and retain their positions, because they knew the position of the constitution clearly. They tried to stuck on some RAPC to justify, as far as they’re concerned, something they call division. But that failed woefully.

So, they found themselves that they couldn’t succeed in the notion of a broken APC. They now said they could go by themselves to make a declaration in the Senate that they’ve left the party for another party.

For us, there’s no surprise, because these same guys who are talking of defecting have in actual fact been part and parcel of PDP from the day the president inaugurated the 8th National Assembly. They were led by Saraki. They went into an illicit accord with the PDP, and from then till that Tuesday, they have operated on the agenda of the PDP. They only wore the tag of APC, but they were not for all intents and purposes.

Unfortunately for them, the PDP, in spite of the apparent number they want to convince us about what they’re carrying to PDP, still remains the minority party in the Senate, and in the House of Representatives too. The APC alone has 53 on the ground, and APGA is working with us. The constituency of Bauchi South and Katsina where we lost Sen Mustapha Bukar, presumably their by-elections will be held this August, by the grace of God, that will come to our kitty. So, they’ve committed political blunder, to say the least and they’re going to be seen for whom they are. I’m happy.

In politics, you don’t want to lose anybody, there’s no doubt about that. You can win election by one vote. But where a person is inherently dishonest, where a person lives by breaching trust, the sooner you part way with him or her, the better. And that’s what has happened. You’ll see the APC will wax stronger in the National Assembly, because we now know who we are. We now know who is answering his father’s name, and we know those who may not know whose names they will answer. It’s now clear.

From all indications, the Senate President is going to dump the APC...

There’s no question that he’s going to dump, he’s not in the APC anymore. We were there in the presidency, the APC caucus, but he wasn’t there. So, don’t say he will. As far as we’re concerned, he’s gone.

Are you ok with Saraki still occupying the Senate President’s seat?

You don’t cross bridges until you reach them. They deliberately, because they foresaw this problem, they went on recess. We were not suppose to go on recess on Tuesday. This is the longest recess we’re having, which is about two months. The whole thing is to give them time to maneuver to do what they want to do, but it is an end game for them.

You can see proof that all this while, they wanted to go away, but they want to keep their positions. They want to eat their cake and have it. It’s very clear now. He has pushed everybody to go, and they’ve gone, and he still hasn’t made a formal declaration. It shows the extent of dishonesty of purpose and mistrust. He has no basis for you to know he is a leader who will stand up for whom he is and answer his father’s name, and stand up for the responsibility of whatever action he takes. That’s what it showed. It’s just about office, not about integrity or service.

Each time they talk about strengthening institutions, they’re talking about strengthening their bogey position of office. That’s what they’re doing, and that’s why we never agree with them. They will never play along, supporting their own government. You’re an APC man, your party has got a national mandate, you have a president, and you’re still working by the day, every one day, against the president, Muhammadu Buhari. It’s a betrayal.

If he had turned up for the meeting with the president, would you people have allowed him?

I would have sent him out. I would have told them that ‘you don’t belong here; you betrayed the president. You want to continue with the game of betrayal? Get out of this place.’

There were speculations that some of you were planning to change the leadership of the Senate on that Tuesday, how true is that?

I don’t talk about things that don’t happen. If there was an action, manifest, you can ask questions about it. But when you speculate, I don’t go for speculations. We’re talking reality. People said they decamped from one party to another, that’s a reality. I was there when it happened, and I can talk about it like I’m doing now. But whether there was an intention to change the leadership, that is speculation.

Do you think there are more black legs in the APC that would want to join the PDP?

As far as I’m concerned, again that’s speculation, and everyone of us has a right. If there are black legs, we’ll pick them.

You were reported to have said that Saraki only collated names of senators without contacting them for defection, how true is that?

I didn’t make any statement. I’m making the first statement since this thing happened on Tuesday. You see, people use us now to make a living. I can’t stop it, let them do it. The only thing is that the day they match my toe proper, they’ll know whom they’re dealing with. But if you’re in politics, people fly all sorts of things about you, and when you start to react to every little thing....

They’re drowning, and when a man is drowning and you throw a sword at him or her, he’ll pick it believing that that sword can turn to safety. I’ve been a senator, a ranking senator, and we’ve been together. I know what they say and do on the floor of the Senate. Whether there are some black legs, it’s not for me to say now. But time will tell. The leg isn’t black until it turns real black.

Why do you think the 8th Senate has been so chaotic?

Because we have the misfortune of having a leadership that has no integrity whatsoever, a leadership that started on a note of breach of trust. Once a person breaches trust, my tolerance level with him is very limited. That’s how it started. How do you see a person who is voted on a platform of a party and from day one he plots to do what that party would not want him to do? And he succeeds, carries on from one thing to another.

You don’t have to wait until there’s a change of leadership. Leadership is changing by their action. They don’t have the majority, we have the majority. Let’s come back and have an election.

Are you going to move or call for his removal?

Let’s wait for the day to come. Let’s hope we’re alive, let’s hope we’re well and do reconvene. And let’s hope the matter comes up. What we’ll do will be determined by the circumstances of the event coming on our laps.

Sen Melaye was seen dancing in front of you on Tuesday on the floor and making some statements, what do you think of such action?

I’ll not forget one day when I thought we could do things properly, when I thought things happening were not quite in keeping with the integrity that is supposed to govern the affairs of the Senate, I was talking with the Senate President. Some of the things I was pointing as example was that kind of behaviour. He said to me ‘no, forget Dino is a clown.’ That’s what Saraki said to me. He’s alive, let him come out and deny saying that to me. Dino is a clown, so what do you do with clowns? And he was using him up to that day.

He came dancing and was like ‘these are the desciple of this government, and Abdullahi Adamu is one of them.’ I don’t care a hoot about that. I have more serious situations than that. A senator dancing before another senator? The Senate is a leveler. Even if I’m 101 years and I’m in the Senate and a boy of 18 years got elected to the Senate, if that was permissible age, by the time we get sworn in, we’re equals.

When somebody who is my equal would come before me and start dancing and saying things to agitate me, I’m more matured than that. I got a mission, a more serious one. My mission is for this government to feel effective representation in the Senate and my party to feel they have a good representative in the Senate, to do the bidding of my party and without prejudice protect the interest of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Nothing happens in the Senate will divert my attention.

And you won’t stop until you unseat the present leadership?

That’s not my mission. That’s a very primordial little thing for me to do. I can’t say change of leadership of the Senate becomes my preoccupation. That will be too mean. The leadership isn’t about me or to unseat anybody. It’s about what the Senate is doing and it’s reputation and whatever we can do to enhance the credibility of the Senate. Abdullahi Adamu will be part of it.

With all these things, what do you think Saraki wants to achieve?

Saraki is alive, maybe in hiding or maybe he’s free somewhere, you’re free to go and ask him. Find out from him what’s he’s doing or what he wants to do.

The man is all out to move, should he move, what will you do?

Let him move. If he’s man enough, a man of his conviction, and he wants to go to PDP, let him go. He has got his pawns gone, now he’s the king in the chessboard, let’s see the king move.

Will there be a checkmate?

Let the king move first. Let him be man enough to move.

There’s a king in the Senate chessboard now, what happens if he moves?

When he moves, then you’ll see what happens on the board. Are you a castle? Whichever position you want to take, what happens to other players on the chessboard? What move affects where you are? Are you a bishop or a knight? All these come to play.

What happens if the king doesn’t move?

Then the other players on the chessboard will move him. That’s all.

Zamfara Attack: 42 killed, Over 100 people missing, Villages Razed Down

On Friday, armed bandits killed at least 42 people by attacking 18 villages in Mashema, Kwashabawa and Birane districts in the Zurmi local government area in Zamfara state.

According to sources, the death toll could reach 100, with hundreds of people reported missing.

DAILY NIGERIAN has learned that many villages have been razed by the attackers.

A witness who survived the attack, Lawwali Mashema, said that thousands of residents displaced by the attack fled to the town of Zurmi, about 50 kilometers from their communities.

He said that many other survivors seek refuge in the state of Katsina, while others in the Republic of Niger.

"Women, children and the elderly have died en route to find refuge in the city of Zurmi, while many others have been seen in a devastating state," he said.

Zamfara's deputy governor, Ibrahim Wakkala, described the attack as a barbarian during a visit to the town of Zurmi. Mr. Wakkala, who represented the governor, promised to take drastic action on the matter.

The chairman of the state's Damage and Relief Committee, who is the president of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Sanusi Rikiji, called for improving security in the region.

State police spokesman Mohammed Shehu did not respond to a journalist's call.
