Officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Port Harcourt Area Office, arrested a fake Nigerian army general, posing as Brigadier General Dawuk Danfulani of the 6th Garrison Division, Army of Nigeria, Port Harcourt Barracks , Rivers State.
The suspect, Adesola Bucknor, allegedly "appointed" Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Professor Blessing Diba, as the head of the command of the Nigerian Army Chaplaincy Service and signed the "letter of on behalf of Brigadier General Dawuk Danfulani.
In the letter, he solicited financial support for the entertainment of guests invited to the installation of Dibia and a thank-you ceremony after his installation. To give credibility to the "letter of appointment", Bucknor allegedly coined the logo of the chaplaincy services of the Nigerian military and signed the document accordingly.
Searches at his home in Port Harcourt resulted in several documents incriminating the offense. He also admitted to having committed the crime.
According to the EFCC, "the suspect will soon be charged".
