World Cup 2018: End Of The Road For Enyeama As Super Eagles Coach Shuts Door On Goalkeeper

While speaking with journalists at the inaugural Aiteo/Nigeria Football Federation Awards on Monday, Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr, finally ruled out goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama’s return to the national team.

 

The coach said the inability of the former captain of the team to secure playing time had played a huge role in his decision, adding that his main target was to take active players to the World Cup and Enyeama does not fit into that quota.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has  said  18-year-old  Fortuna Dusseldorf goalkeeper Maduka Okoye  has agreed to switch his international allegiance to Nigeria.

 

Rohr is considering his options as he looks to arrive  at the Russia  2018 World Cup with a top-class keeper.

 

The PUNCH had exclusively reported on January 11 that the 18-year-old  Okoye  was one of the German-born players  being  monitored by Rohr, who is searching for a replacement for Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme.

Mikel Will Play For Super Eagles Even If He Moves To China

Nigeria Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has said he will hope Mikel Obi moves to another European club, but should he opt for China, it will not affect his place in the national team.

This season Mikel has been frozen out at Chelsea after more than a decade at the London club, and he is now widely expected to move out.
