Presidency Cries Out: They Are Ganging Up Against Buhari

The Presidency on Sunday again declared that no amount of gang up against President Muhammadu Buhari towards the the Presidential elections will stand.

They said “The Peoples Democratic Party is hiding in the bunker of ethnicity to avoid their inevitable defeat but that won’t change anything.

“The current scenario resembles efforts to stop Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 by the same characters. It is an effort to repeat the old experiment that failed is 2015.

Honour Kudirat Abiola Too, APC Tells Buhari

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to consider honouring late Kudirat Abiola, wife of late Chief MKO Abiola, with a posthumous award.

The party made the call in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abudullahi, in Abuja yesterday while commending Buhari for honouring Abiola with a posthumous Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR).

The late Abiola was the acclaimed winner of June 12, 1993 presidential election, which was annulled by then military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida. The election, which Abiola contested on the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP), was said to be Nigeria’s freest and fairest.

It Is Only Buhari That Can Tell Nigerians What He's Suffering From - Adesina

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina on Tuesday said it is only President Muhammadu Buhari that can reveal his ailment or details about his health.
 
Adesina said this during a phone-in-interview on Channels Television Breakfast Programme, Sunrise Daily while reacting to question about the President’s ailment deserving another trip to London, United Kingdom.
 
According to him, details about the President’s health is private and personal.

My Re-Election Bid Not For Personal Gain – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated that the driving force for seeking public office should be to serve the people, improve their lives and not for frivolity or personal ambition.

This is contained in a statement signed by Malam Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity.

The statement said that Buhari made this known at the All Progressives Party’s (APC) Ward Congress held at Bayagida Model Primary School, Daura, Katsina State on Saturday.

Give Me More Time To Decide On 2019, Buhari Speaks

President Mohammadu Buhari on Thursday asked governors on the platform of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) to give him more time to decide whether or not he was going to contest the 2019 presidential election.

The President told the governors led by Imo State governors, Rochas Okorocha at a meeting held at the First Lady Conference Room in the villa, Abuja.

Buhari, according to Okorocha, in an interview with Statehouse correspondent said the president asked to be giving more time to decide.

The crisis in Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which culminated in the demolition of the factional secretariat of the party by the state government has further put a dent to the efforts by President Muhammadu Buhari to bring aggrieved members of the party on the same page ahead of the 2019 elections.
 
A member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), who spoke with DAILY INDEPENDENT on Wednesday said the presidency is displeased with the actions taken by Governor Nasir el-Rufai which it believes will further worsen the APC crisis and make the work of the reconciliation panel headed by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu more difficult, if not an impossible one.

Herdsmen Crisis: President Buhari Begs Benue Elders in 'God's Name'

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday appealed to the government and people of Benue State to “in the name of God” accommodate their countrymen.
 
He urged them to exercise restraint following the recent attacks on some communities and assured them that all the perpetrators of violence in the state will be made to face the wrath of the law.
 
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President made the call while receiving a delegation of political leaders, traditional rulers and elders of the state led by Governor Samuel Ortom at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Buhari Has Not Done Enough to Deserve Re-election - Civil Society Group

A civil society group, Sage Africa, has said President Muhammadu Buhari should focus on fulfilling his electoral promises as he has not done enough to deserve re-election.
 
The group added that President Buhari should not be nursing the hope of a second term in office at this point in time when Nigerians are disillusioned with his administration, describing it as “lacking coherence.”
 
According to Punch, the Sage Africa Director, Joshua Asubiojo revealed this on Thursday in Abuja and observed that government action and policies had worsened the unemployment rate in the country, adding that “a record number of Nigerians had lost their jobs under this government.”

2019: No Automatic Ticket For Buhari – Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has said that the party is yet to endorse President Muhammadu Buhari as its sole candidate for the 2019 presidential election.

He also said the party would follow the ”normal democratic processes” in choosing its candidate for the election.

Tell Nigerians the Truth About Your Health or Resign - Group Threatens Buhari

A civil rights movement, Concerned Nigerians, has given the Presidency two weeks ultimatum within which President Muhammadu Buhari should conduct a media chat to address the nation on the state of his health and other national issues, Punch reported.
 
The group said failure by the President to address the issue will result in total shut down of the country through a series of nationwide peaceful processions and call for his resignation from office.
 
This was contained in a six-paragraph statement released on Saturday and entitled: “We will shut down Nigeria if Buhari does not conduct a media chat in two weeks”, signed by its Convener, Deji Adeyanju and Secretary, Dr. John Danfulani.

Buhari Will Win If He Contest Another Election – Adesina

Femi Adesina the Presidential spokesman, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will win again if he contests another presidential election.

Adesina made the comment while appearing on Channels TV’s “Sunday Politics” on Sunday  Adesina said Buhari has done well and would “win and win again and again.”

“That would depend on Nigerians, but if you ask me as an individual, I will say, yes, the president can win and win again and again,” Adesina said when asked if Buhari could win an election today.

Buhari Spent Less Than N20.5m On Ear Treatment, Not £6m - Presidency

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, says President Muhammadu Buhari spent less than £50,000 (N20.5m) on the treatment of an ear infection in the United Kingdom.

Shehu said this in a Facebook post on Sunday night while responding to an allegation by Prof. Farooq Kperogi that Buhari spent £6m during his treatment in June.

The President’s spokesman said Buhari’s government believed in accountability and curbing waste. Shehu said the Presidency had approved over £50,000 for the President’s treatment but Buhari rejected it.

He said, “The disclosure on Prof. Farooq Kperogi’s wall that President Muhammadu Buhari’s ear treatment in the United Kingdom cost a whopping £6m must have shocked many of the respected scholar’s followers. Continue...
