One of the strongest storms in years pounded California on Friday, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of people from their homes, causing power outages and prompting flight delays and cancellations. 

 

Los Angeles fire officials said one person was electrocuted after a tree downed a power line and several people stranded near the Los Angeles River had to be rescued with inflatable boats.

Mr Israel Adeshola, the National President of Bus Conductors Association of Nigeria (BCAN), says that as from March it is mandatory for bus conductors in Lagos state to wear uniforms, name tags and badges.

 

Adeshola, who made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday, said that the Lagos State government has approved wearing of uniforms and badges.

 

He said that the use of badges and wearing of uniforms by over 3,000 bonafide members got the approval of the government on Monday.

The lingering crisis over land that has pitted Itaji and Ayede communities in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State has degenerated as another man, said to be from Itaji was found beheaded in the disputed land at Orisumbare. The deceased, still to be identified, was said to have been trailed to his farm in the disputed land and was decapitated, just as his assailants were said to have also severed his hands.

The unknown assailants were said to have made away with the severed head of the deceased.

The latest killing followed the murder, on the same disputed Orisumbare, of a father of four, Mr. Seti Oladipo, last week, a development which had created tension between Itaji and Ayede communities.

The killing of Oladipo had led to a street protest by the youth of Ayede.
