Breaking News----- Coach Stephen Keshi & Captain Yobo Quit Super Eagles

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, has resigned his appointment after he led the team to the second round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The team's captain, Joseph Yobo is out too after his 100 appearance for Nigeria's national team. I think they've done their best. Good luck, guys!

A Japanese man set himself on fire in central Tokyo on Sunday after giving a speech opposing Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's plan to reform the country's pacifist constitution, police and reports said.

The middle-aged man doused himself in what appeared to be petrol before setting himself alight outside the main train station in Shinjuku, one of Tokyo's busiest shopping and entertainment districts, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

The man was taken to hospital with burns and his condition was not immediately known, police added, without giving further details.

GEJ to go watch Super Eagles in Brazil if they make it to quarter-final

President Jonathan has promised to travel to Brazil to watch the Super Eagles live if they make it to the quarter-final stage of the 2014 World Cup. Nigeria will play France in the Round of 16 tomorrow Monday June 30th (5pm Nigerian time) and if they beat France, GEJ and some members of his govt will travel to Brazil to watch their next match.

This was revealed by Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, who said the additional incentive from the president has motivated the players to beat France at all cost. Nigeria has never reached the quarter-final stage of any World Cup

A 28-year-old fried keow teow seller slashed and seriously wounded his 32-year-old wife and 19-year-old stall helper with a parang after discovering the duo without clothes in the same room in his rented house.

The incident occurred at about 2am Wednesday, at a house rented by the suspect in Kampung Langgar near here.

The suspect and his family moved into the house about a week ago.

Charly Boy Disgraces Gov. Okorocha Yesterday At Father’s Burial

The first son of late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, Charly boy, yesterday disgraced Governor Rochas Okorocha at an Arequiem mass organised for his father in Imo State.

Chief Okorocha, was stopped midway into his speech, by Charly Boy when the Catholic Bishop invited him to the alter to pay his tribute to the fallen judge. Charly boy walked up angrily to the altar, snatched the micro-phone from the governor, and yelled at the Bishop for giving him the micro-phone to pay tribute to his father.

A lot of people have said, Charly boy decided to disgrace him, when his government allegedly said they gave his family N20m for his father’s burial, which is far from the truth.

Charly boy hasn’t said anything since yesterday’s incident, but the State Government has described the incident has Ugly and regrettable. They also accused Charly boy for working for other parties who are against Rochas administration.

Thirteen people have been killed and 34 injured when gunmen in military uniforms attacked a well known hotel in Bauchi yesterday night. The police PRO of the state confirmed the incident this morning saying it was true and its such a sad incident, but survivors are currently receiving treatments.

According to an eye witness Malam Ahmed Maidoki who was watching highlights of the on-going world cup with his friends at the hotel said a loud explosion was first heard before the men who had positioned themselves at the four corners of the hall started shooting sporadically. Below is how he narrated it…

“We were just sitting down, watching highlights of the ongoing FIFA world cup at the viewing centre located in between the two story building of the hotel when five men dressed in military uniform strolled in.

“We thought they were security personnel, who came to relax as well. I noticed they all positioned themselves at the four corners of the hall.

“The next thing I heard was an explosion, after which the arena was covered with thick smoke. Shivering, my friends and I sprawled on the ground.

Legendary soul singer and songwriter Bobby Womack, who penned hits for many of the greatest musicians of the 20th Century, has died at the age of 70. The cause of his death was not announced, but Womack had suffered from cancer and Alzheimer's disease and also battled with drug addiction.

His brother Hasset who posted the video which went viral, said his brother's dying wish had been to marry Leizl and, 'after 12 hours of preparations, his dream was fulfilled'.:

Dangerous alcohol consumption was responsible for 3.3 million deaths worldwide in 2012, according to a new World Health Organization report Monday.
Harmful alcohol use not only leads to addiction, but it can put people at a higher risk of over 200 disorders like tuberculosis and pneumonia.
"This actually translates into one death every 10 seconds," Shekhar Saxena, head of the WHO's Mental Health and Substance Abuse department, told reporters in Geneva, Global Post reports.

A six-year-old boy, Emmanuel Emeka, who was rescued from a suspected kidnapper on Wednesday in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, has recounted how he was lured, seized and tied up by his abductor.

Emmanuel said the suspect, identified as Mama Ifunaya, who was a neighbour, lured him into her room, strangled him,covered his mouth with clothes before tying him up with rope to prevent him from screaming.

He said,

“I wanted to draw water and take my bath before going to school when she told me to come. I went because I know her; she is Mama Ifunnaya. But when I got to her side, she threw me inside her room… she closed her net. She then tied me and put me inside a box.I wanted to shout, but I could not shout properly. I heard my mummy’s voice when she was looking for me, but I could not shout. She (pointing to the suspect) is a wicked person.”

28 year old Olympian and five-time U.S. national champion Alysia Montano ran an 800m race at the Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California, yesterday and people are now questioning if it's safe.

Alysia received a standing ovation after completing the race in 2 minutes, 32.13 seconds, 35 seconds slower than her personal best of 1:57.34, which she smashed back in 2010 in a race in Monaco.

A few of those who were lucky to be alive when a bomb exploded at a popular shopping mall in Abuja on Wednesday with new reports saying 22 died and over 50 injured, have explained how they narrowly escaped death and thanked God for sparing their lives.

It’s such a bad situation that you won’t even pray for your enemy to experience it when you read their stories. They said the flames from the explosion were peeling people’s skin, bomb explosions are that terrible. May God put an end to it. Their stories below.

There has been confusion ever since an explosion rocked Folawiyo axis of Creek Road, Apapa in Lagos Wednesday night.

Residents are of the opinion that it was a bomb blast as opposed the Police claim that a tanker carrying fuel burst into flames in the area while led to the loud sound. The Director of the State Fire Service was also contacted by journalists and he said the explosion wasn't a bomb blast but a gas explosion, a report which contradicts that of the Police.

However some journalists and residents of Apapa say they won’t let the government deceive them because it was clear that what happened was a bomb blast and not a gas explosion or a fuel tanker bursting into flames.

One Adaobi a staff of the company whose building was affected by the blast spoke to Vanguard saying, she still can’t come to terms with the fact that insurgency is now at her doorsteps.

Bacary Sagna has hit back at suggestions that he joined Manchester City this summer only for the money.

The France right-back will officially join the Premier League champions when his Arsenal contract expires on 30 June.
