An accident involving the convoy of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, resulted in the death of one person while 20 others suffered various damages.
Nigerian news agency reports that local security officer, Marshal of Gombe State, Mr. Sunday Jika, who was in the entourage of the minister, confirmed the accident to journalists in Gombe Saturday.
Jika said: "We received the minister at the airport and on returning to town, a Peugeot 406 car entered the minister's motorcade, hitting the pilot's car.
"The Peugeot car was burned, we were able to get three people out of the Peugeot car, while the driver burned himself in the car.
"In the other bus, in the minister's convoy, we also took people out and all the wounded were taken to the Gombe Special Hospital and the Gombe Teaching Hospital," he said. -he says.
A NAN correspondent, who was at the specialized hospital and at the FTH, saw doctors treating patients in the emergency department of the hospital.
Deputy Medical Director FTH Gombe, Dr. Zainab Kaltungo, declined to comment.
Dr. Godwin Omiko, Area Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, told NAN that he had not yet been informed of the accident.
