Police Arrest 60-year-old Man With Roasted Human Parts In Taraba



 
Taraba State Police Command, yesterday, arrested a-60-year-old, Abubakar Abdulkadir, for allegedly being in possession of roasted human parts.

The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, has pleaded with the kidnappers of his twin children to release them.

He made the plea while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Ibadan.

He appealed to the kidnappers to bear with him as he does not have the money being requested.

The kidnappers initially demanded  N100 million ransom and later reduced it to N40 million.

Oba Balogun said he was able to offer them N5 million which was rejected.

“The kidnappers should please bear with me and return my kids, I am ready to do anything that will make them happy.

Another Nigerian Shot Dead In South Africa



 
 
A Nigerian, ThankGod Okoro, is the latest victim of police brutality in South Africa.

Okoro, an indigene of Ogbaku, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, was reportedly killed on April 9 by a member of the South African Police Flying Squad at Hamburg, Florida West Rand in Johannesburg.

 At least, 117 Nigerians have been killed in South Africa since February 2016, according to statistics by TheCable.

Confirming Okoro’s murder, the Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Union in South Africa, Habib Miller, who is based in Pretoria, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday that the deceased was shot in the head.

Court Sentences Traditional Ruler To Death

The embattled Unuevworo (community head) of Ekpan, Uvwie Council Area of Delta State, Chief Newton Agbofodo, has been sentenced to death.

Agbofodoh, one of the highest ranking chiefs of Uvwie Kingdom, was arrested on June 17, 2016, and was later arraigned in court for crimes bordering on murder.

He  was sentenced by the Delta State High Court 4, in Asaba, after being found guilty of all four count charges  preferred against him. He was sentenced to death by hanging. Charges preferred against him were conspiracy to commit murder, the substantial offence of murder, conspiracy to commit attempted murder and an attempted murder.

Fayemi Joins Ekiti Governorship Race

Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has finally broken his silence on his speculated governorship ambition in Ekiti State.

Fayemi, who was in office between October 2010 and October 2014 said his joining the governorship race was not debatable but he would not want to flout the law by declaring intent to contest when INEC was yet to blow the whistle for the race to start.

The former governor who addressed a briefing on his ambition at his Isan-Ekiti country home on Sunday said everything constitutionally, legally and legitimately possible would be done to ensure an APC victory at the forthcoming governorship poll.

Confusion As Bride, 10 Others Kidnapped While Moving To Groom's House





There was confusion at Birnin Gwari Town in Kaduna State on Saturday night when a new bride and 10 others were abducted at gun point by bandits in the area.

The bride, after the wedding, was being conveyed to her husband’s house by her friends and relatives w‎hen the gunmen stopped the vehicle and took them away.

The incident which took place at about 8 p.m. threw the community into confusion.

Confirming the kidnap, a former chairman of the local government who asked not to be named for security reasons, told PREMIUM TIMES on phone that the gunmen operated with impunity as nobody challenged them.

An actor has taken his own life after he struggled to cope with getting old.

According to UK Metro, 47-year old Kevin Rowley had been renowned by friends as a man ‘with a smile on his face’ but he hid a secret battle with anxiety in which he found it difficult to deal with his 30th and 40th birthdays.

He was found suffocated in bed at his home in Hulme, Manchester, recently.

The controversy trailing this year's Big Brother Naija 2018 has reached a new level as organizers of the reality were forced to apologize for airing a wrong percentage vote for housemate, Nina during the live eviction show.
Recall that Nigerians had taken to social media to blast the organizers after noticing an error in the voting results accusing them of altering the eviction votes.
A check on the votes showed that 1. 44 % was missing. 
Nina emerged highest with 44.00% votes; Cee-C followed with 24.38%, while Teddy A and Bam Bam got 16.81% and 13.37% respectively.
Reacting to the error, the organizers on their official Twitter handle wrote, ”Dear viewers,

”An incorrect percentage was published for Nina during tonight’s Eviction show.

”While we deeply regret this error, we wish to state that the audited and verified percentage for Nina is 45.44% as opposed to 44%.

”We thank you for your usual support & understanding.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has been accused of failing Nigerians by not fulfilling his campaign promises and bringing back ethnicity which Nigerians felt they had overcome.
 
Mathew Kukah, bishop of Sokoto diocese of the Catholic church made the accusation in a letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari.
 
According to The Cable, in a letter to the president, the cleric said Nigerians have never been so alienated from one another. Kukah said during his campaign, Buhari promised to fight corruption and make the nation secure but he has fallen short of expectations.
 
He said Buhari needs to connect with Nigerians and fulfil his promises.
