I’ll rather quit politics than return to PDP' - Orji Kalu

The former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, said he was not planning to move from the All-Party Progressive Congress (APC) to the Democratic People's Party (PDP).

His media assistant, Kunle Oyewumi, on Tuesday described reports on some online platforms about planned defection as mischievous, lying and the work of political traders and speculators.

Kalu said the APC, of which he is not only a member, but also a strong activist, "remains the only political party to save Nigeria from the atrocities of previous administrations." The former governor of Abia, while stressing that he will never be able to join the PDP, has called on those who spread false news to seek other means of survival than cheap political blackmail and murder of character.

He said that in light of the achievements of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the APC is strengthening in the Southeast and in other parts of the country. The former governor said that not only was a prominent member of the CPA, but a strong supporter of Buhari, without any excuse to anyone.

"My attention has been drawn to a report in some online media that I am ready to throw out the APC for the PDP.The malicious report is not only laughable but mischievous. This is another attempt by the enemies of progress to cause disaffection and confusion in the PCA.

I remain a strong and committed member of the CPA. Those behind the lie should seek the attention of lawful prosecutions. I am not disturbed and I will not lose sleep on the activities of political jobbers.

It is no longer news that I am going to fight for a seat in the Senate (Abia North) under the CPA in 2019. I prefer to leave the politics than to return to the PDP because the APC is the only political party that will take the Nigeria to enviable heights, "he said.
