Imo State LG poll: SDP rejects results

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) rejected the results of last Saturday's local government election held in an imo state.

Recall that DAILY POST had announced Sunday that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won all 27 seats of president in the local government election last Saturday in the state of Imo.

Responding to the election results, SDP Publicity Secretary in Imo State, Godsent Chilos, who spoke with DAILY POST on Tuesday, alleged that the exercise was tainted with irregularities.

According to Chilos, "we are not satisfied with the results of the local elections held in the state last Saturday because, prior to the LG elections, our party held several meetings with IPAC and the Independent Electoral Commission of the country. State of Imo (IMSIEC) where candidates were asked to pay a certain amount to IMSIEC, which was illegal.

"And again, last Saturday's election, voter turnout was below expectations because it was just under 5% of the total number of registered voters in various communities, so we can not see this, to represent the point of view of the people of the state of Imo.

"We reject the election that can not be an election that will be called a democratic election."
