Suicide Bomber Kills 11 people In Iraq. - report

A suicide bomber blew up a vehicle in al-Qaim town in western Iraq, killing at least 11 people, including five members of the security forces, police said.

The 9-hour attack on a checkpoint in the suburbs of Al-Qaim also injured 16 people - 11 civilians and five members of the security forces.

The city, located on the Syrian border, some 340 kilometers from Baghdad, was one of the last in Iraq to be taken over from the Islamic State group last November.

A month later, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared victory over jihadists.


But since then, security forces have announced a number of campaigns to flush out information system fighters into sparsely populated areas where they continued to launch attacks.
