The Senate Speaker announced that he would join the race of Thursday, August 24, 2009 to the President of the United Nations.
In a statement after the event, the movement condemned Dr. Saraki's action and said he would be shocked that he has a platform for youth engagement with political parties to declare his application.
The group added that the Senate Speaker had no prior discussion with him about the statement, nor had he asked for permission to travel during the event.
"The movement wants to express its disappointment with Senator Saraki for using a platform for young aspirants to dialogue with leaders," he said.
"We strongly condemn this act of the Senate Speaker."
The successful youth movement continued to bear fruit and remained a non-partisan, citizen-driven movement for democracy and transformational leadership.
"As noted above, the movement is reaffirming its identity as a non-partisan, citizen-led movement dedicated to the defense of democracy, political inclusion and leadership transformation," he added.
"The movement reaffirms its commitment to continue its engagement with political parties to ensure youth candidacy and the primaries of democratic parties."
