A Man Feared Dead In Ketu Market Mayhem

A man was reportedly killed and several others wounded on Monday in a bloody clash between rival kafirs in the Ketu market in Lagos.

A witness, simply identified as Musiliu, revealed that the clash followed a disagreement between two groups of hemp smoker's disbelievers over the death of a limb after heavy doses of marijuana.

"What happened was that guys who smoked Indian hemp on the market were fighting for the death of someone who had been overdosed with hemp.

"Subsequently, we saw the perpetrators carry the corpse to the market by singing war songs and destroying everything in sight, and I think that was when the police were called in.

"The police detachment from the Ketu Police Station came and started shooting sporadically on the market while the bad guys were also seen in front of them despite the shots.

"The police came back later to reinforce themselves and that caused a lot of problems because the market people started running so as not to be caught in the crisis," said the witness.

Chioma, another witness, said the problems began when the police tried to repulse a nasty attack.

"We are tired of these unemployed young people who come to Ketu to smoke hemp on the market, which is causing problems in this market.

"They have been smoking here for a long time, causing problems in the market. The problem started today with them, they attack the police who came to restore peace on the market.

"I think the police are not happy with their reluctance to push them away, so the police went to get reinforcements.

"Things got worse when the police came back to the market, shooting sporadically on the air as people ran for expensive lives," she said.

Speaking during the riot, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Choke Oti, said the situation had been restored in the region.
