Gunmen Kill Speaker’s Head Driver, One Other

Unidentified gunmen killed Mr. Azi Magaji, the chief driver of the Speaker of the Plateau Assembly, and Mr. Edward Ankpa, a security officer at Jos University Hospital (JUTH)

DSP Terna Tyopev, the Plateau Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) on Sunday in Jos.

Tyopev said the killing took place on Saturday night in the Zarazong community in Jos North's local government area.

Magaji passed when he was attacked by armed men.


"Yesterday evening, around 9 pm, we received a distress call for sporadic gunfire in the Zarazong neighborhood of Jos, a community that houses Jos University Hospital. Immediately, the police mobilized in the area. .

"Upon arrival, Mr. Azi Magaji, the driver of the president and Edward Ankpa, a security officer of the JUTH, were found dead.

"They were immediately taken to JUTH and confirmed dead by the doctor on duty," he said.

PPRO stated that MM. Kopdi Monday and Nenman Popdak, security guards on duty at JUTH Gate 4, were also found with gunshots and were transported to the same hospital where they are currently being treated.

The maker of images said the investigation to unravel the perpetrators of this despicable act was on track and asked all members of the public for useful information to make available to the police.

He urged residents to remain calm and to respect the law as police arrive at the root of the attack
