Everton Sign Digne From Barcelona

Everton completed Barcelona's Lucas Digne's signing for £ 22m ($ 29m).

Former left-back Lille, Paris Saint-Germain and Roma signed a five-year contract with the Toffees, ending his two-year stint at Camp Nou.

Everton landed at Digne for an initial amount of £ 19.5 million (€ 22 million / $ 25.6 million), which could eventually rise to £ 22 million (€ 25 million), once bonuses included.

Speaking of his move to Goodison Park, Digne told Everton's official website: "Everton is a big club with a great history, I want to play games, win games and excite fans with the quality of our football.

"I want to show my best football here and discover the best league in the world, everyone loves the Premier League, and I love the fact that I'm coming here.

"I'm not scared, I'm excited, for me it's a new challenge to discover a country, a league, people and a big club like Everton, it's fabulous."

Everton boss Marco Silva also welcomed the arrival of Digne, adding: "It is important to say that he is a player who, from the first contact with him, showed a huge desire to play Everton .

"He is a high quality player, aggressive, with good technical abilities and during the last five seasons he played two years at Paris St-Germain, one in Rome and for two seasons he has demonstrated his quality in Barcelona.

"Lucas is a player who will add competitiveness in a position where we only had Leighton Baines last season and he is used to winning. It's his mentality of having captured titles in his career and having them on his CV. "

Digne emerged from Lille's famous youth system before moving to PSG in 2013, helping the club win two Ligue 1 titles and two League Cup titles.

After spending the 2015-16 season on loan at Roma, Digne moved to Barcelona in 2016 and made 12 appearances in La Liga as the club won the Spanish title last season.

Digne, who was waiting for the World Cup team in France in the summer, becomes Everton's second summer signing alongside Richarlison, who joined for £ 40m ($ 53 million) in July.
