Mad woman Caught with Over N200,000 in Anambra State
Anambra State government agents on Wednesday arrested a woman suspected of being insane with money purportedly far beyond N200,000.
The woman, who is suspected of being in her fifties and always being seen at the aroma crossroads with many wastes she keeps as her property, was arrested by state government officials by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Child Development.
DAILY POST gathered that the officials who were on patrol to ream up insane people whose numbers were steadily increasing in Awka, approached the woman and led her into her van, but she protested that she would not leave her property behind.
"The officers told her they could not carry all the rubbish she described as property, but she should take everything that was most important.
"At that time, she was rummaging through the rubbish and digging up money that was stacked properly according to her denomination, and the money that covered all denominations, but mostly small bills, was huge, and that's what attracted people here," said one Eyewitness to our reporter.
A passer-by said she had seen the woman, and although she was seen as a crazy woman, she was usually neat and also bought her own food when she was hungry.
Eyewitnesses said that she had not revealed the source of the money, but it was suspected that the money could come from alms. Another eyewitness said that she may have earned the money from men who sneaked in at night to have sex with her.
Hon Ndidi Mezue, Commissioner for Women's Affairs and Child Development, could not be reached because of the main motive of arresting crazy people by the ministry or keeping the woman arrested.
Her counselor, who had answered her call, simply said the commissioner was in a meeting and would call back. However, she did not call at the time of filing this report
