A woman attacked and injured 14 children in a nursery school in China's southwest Sichuan province on Friday, the authorities have said.
The 39-year-old attacker used a kitchen knife to slashed the students while returning to the classroom after morning exercises, Banan District Security Bureau said in Chongqing on his official social media account.
Images and videos published by local media online show children in blood-wet clothes, some with blisters on the face.
After the police rushed to the scene, children were evacuated for medical treatment. The woman who performed the attack is currently in police custody and an investigation is under way.
The attack took place at 9:30 AM (0130 GMT) local time, according to the department.
