President Muhammadu Buhari approved the extension of Joint Border Operations under the code name Exercise Rapid Response, resulting in the total closure of land borders across the country.
The land borders are expected to reopen on January 31, 2020, erasing the hopes of West African entrepreneurs, optimistic that the Nigerian government could end the military exercise before Christmas.
In a circular dated 1 November 2019 (NCS / ENF / ABJ / 221 / S.45) and signed by the customs controller in charge of the application, Victor David Dimka, to the sector coordinators, Simulation of Border Operations at the Border. sectors 1, 2, 3 and 4, as part of a rapid intervention exercise, asked them to take note of the new development and to comply accordingly.
