Lagos hospital!
Beverly who returned on Tuesday night was
admitted on Wednesday at Faith City Hospital,
Oju Olobun Close, off Bishop Oluwole Street,
Victoria Island, Lagos.
She is said to be responding to treatment.

were some of the first people to visit her in the
hospital.
You will recall that Beverly sustained an ankle
injury on the finale of the reality show while
climbing the stage and I hear the situation was
getting more serious than she had
thought.

Ex-Senator’s Son Arrested For Alleged Robbery
remanded in prison following his
involvement in robbery in Abuja.
Police sources told us that the
former senator's son, who hails from Ekiti
State, led a gang of armed robbers to rob a
Colonel (names withheld) at Mbora Estate
by Jabi District, where his AK-47 and other
valuable items were removed.
The source disclosed that the robbery
operation which took place on the July 5,
2013, resulted in the arrest of the ex-
senator's son whose name was given as Ola
Kila.

How did you meet each other?
Abimbola: I met her in Port
Harcourt when I was working there in 1995. Then, she came for her
national youth service. She is a graduate of the University of Ilorin
and when she was posted to Port Harcourt, my younger brother, who was
also in Ilorin, told her to see me whenever she got to the city. He gave
her my call card. One day, I was outside my office, when she walked
past me and went inside to ask after me. I went inside and she
introduced herself as the one from my brother in Ilorin. From then on,
she became like a younger sister to me. After her service, she returned
to Ilorin, and I was equally transferred to Ibadan. Then, the story
changed. It was pressed on my heart to look for her because that she
would be the woman I would marry.

US soldier who killed Afghan villagers gets life sentence
Afghan villagers last year has
been sentenced to life in prison
without the possibility of parole.
Staff Sgt Robert Bales, 39, opened fire on men,
children and elderly women during a shooting
spree in Kandahar province last March.
He had pleaded guilty to the massacre in June to
avoid the death penalty.
He apologised for the massacre during his
sentencing hearing on Thursday, calling it an "act
of cowardice".
Bales had been making a case for why he should
one day be eligible for parole, which would have
meant he could potentially have been released in
10 years.
But on Friday the military jury of six ruled
against him.
During the court martial, nine Afghans, who were
flown out by the US Army, testified about how
the attack had changed their lives.

Three Nigerian Students In Malaysia Die In A Car Crash Early Morning Today
Three Nigerian students of a private college in
Malaysia were killed early morning today while
two others suffered serious injuries when their
car lost control and crashed into a tree.
The students aged between 29 to 33, were in a
Perodua Myvi when it crashed at 2.30am. The
dead including the driver, identified as Aliu
Tajuden, 30; Tope Samuel, 30 and Busuyi
Zacheus, 29, died at the scene while the other
two were warded at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital
(HTJS) for severe injuries.
Police spokesperson said the they were heading
to their hostels at the time. "Preliminary
investigation suggested that the car was going
fast at the one-way lane and lost control, before
crashing into a tree," he said. He said the
Nigerian embassy was informed of the fatalities,
to come claim the bodies.

BlackBerry Thief Sentenced To 3-month Community Service
who stole a Blackberry mobile phone
valued at N21,000, was, yesterday in Lagos
sentenced to three months community
service.
An Oshodi Magistrates' court which handed
down the judgment said the court had no
option than to sentence Emmanuel since he
had pleaded guilty to the offence.
The Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola, ruled:
"You (Emmanuel) are hereby sentenced to
three months community service without
an option of fine since you have pleaded
guilty to the charge."
Fashola said the accused should serve the
punishment within Oshodi-Isolo Local
Government Area.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Kehinde
Olatunde, told the court that the accused
committed the offence on August 9 at
Odalume Street, Sogunle.
According to him, the accused stole the
phone belonging to Dolapo Audu, where he
was charging it.
He said: "Audu was charging his phone at a
viewing centre when the accused, who came
pretending he wanted to play games, stole
it.
"When the accused was arrested the
following day, he confessed that he had sold
the phone to someone in Ikeja Computer
Village for N10,000."
Olatunde said the offence contravened
Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos
State, 2011. Section 285 provides three years
imprisonment for stealing.

OPC Member Mistakenly Kill A 72-year-old Man During Gun Salute
into the murder of a 72-year-old man, Alhaji
Abdulkareem Kadiru, in Ijora Badia area of
Lagos State.
According to the police, the victim was
killed in error by an Oodua Peoples
Congress member, Ismaila Rahmon, who
was in charge of security at a school where a
Ramadan event took place.
Rahman allegedly killed the Alhaji with a
gun he seized from an armed robber but
failed to turn it over to the police.
EBB learnt that on August 4, 2013,
Rahmon and another OPC member,
identified simply as Obasanjo, had gone to
provide security for the victim and other
dignitaries at the event.
It was gathered that Kadiru was a generous
man and because of his nature, touts usually
surrounded him and sang his praises so that
he would give them money
Rahmon was said to have opened fire in a
bid to disperse the touts.
It was learnt that after the hoodlums fled,
the suspect started hailing Kadiru, shouting
Tuale (a local slang to show respect).
He allegedly shot into the air again to salute
the victim. The bullet, however, killed
Kadiru in error.
The 30-year-old suspect said, "I sell shirts at
Oluwole and I am also a part-time Yoruba
movie actor. I have starred in three films
but I do not get paid because I am an
apprentice.
In order to make ends meet, I
joined the OPC and I earn N12, 000 a month.
"On the day Alhaji was killed, Obasanjo and
I went to a secondary school in the area to
provide security for influential
personalities who came there for Ramadan
benevolence programme where they
donated items to members of the
community.
"When Alhaji arrived, I escorted his vehicle
into the compound and touts stormed the
school in order to extort money from him.
I had been told that area boys would come so
I came to the school with a gun. When I
attempted to disperse the hoodlums and
they refused to go, I shot into the air. I also
attempted to give Tuale (salute) to Alhaji
with another gunshot because I wanted him
to give me money. It was in the process that
the bullet hit him in his head."
The native of Kwara State said after Alhaji
fell to the ground, area boys gathered and
beat him up.
Our correspondent learnt that the area boys
would have lynched him if not for the
timely intervention of policemen.
"The area boys beat me up and collected all
the money on me which was about N20,000.
They seized my phone, kicked me in the
joystick many times and inflicted wounds
on my head. It was the police that saved me
from death. The policemen that came
arrested me and took me to their station,"
he said.
When asked if he was licensed and trained
to use a weapon, the suspect said, "I was
trained by OPC to use weapons. But I have
never used a gun publicly before the
incident. The gun did not belong to me; it
belonged to an armed robber that I arrested
some months ago."
The suspect, who claimed to be the
breadwinner of his family, pleaded with the
police to let him go as he did not kill the
victim deliberately.
"I have three children and my wife sells
bread. I am pleading with the police and
Alhaji's family to forgive me," he said.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi
Braide, confirmed the killing to our
correspondent on the telephone.
She said, "The matter is under investigation
at the State Criminal Investigation
Department, Yaba. The suspect would soon
be charged to court."
