Akayed Ullah
Suspect Akayed Ullah that launched a bomb attack on Manhattan subway has confessed to deliberately carrying out the attack.
The attack said to be a failed terrorist mission left four injured
in the explosion at 42nd Street and 8th Avenue, in midtown Manhattan
near Times Square.
Ullah, a Bangladeshi immigrant is presently receiving treatment at Bellevue hospital where he confessed to law investigators.
According to him, he learnt to make the bomb online and constructed
the pipe bombs about a week ago, CNN reports. However, there are
conflicting reports about whether he made the bomb at his apartment or
at his job in an electrical company.
The suspect confessed to plotting the attack in retribution for
recent actions by Israelis against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Law
enforcement officials told the Associated Press that, “Ullah was inspired by the group, but not in direct contact with them as the attack is being celebrated on pro-ISIS, ‘channels’.
“He watched ISIS videos and read extremist propaganda such as Al-Qaeda’s Inspire magazine,” officials said.
