Serena Williams defeated Maria Sharapova for the 18th consecutive time on Monday to reach the Australian Open semifinals.
Serena dispatched Maria 6-4, 6-1 to set up a semifinal clash with world number four player Agnieszka Radwanska later this week.
Since defeating Serena twice in 2004, Maria has not won a single match against Serena. In fact, as The New York Times pointed out, the last time Maria defeated Serena, Barack Obama had just been elected a senator.
Serena now leads Maria 19-2 in their on-court meetings, but Maria still makes more in endorsements..how?
If Serena goes on to win the Australian Open, she will tie Steffi Graf’s Open era record of 22 Grand Slam titles.
