Mikel played a sterling role in Nigeria's march to winning the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa.
The Chelsea midfielder said that he aims to replicate his club's successes and win more laurels with national team.
“My personal goal is to make sure that I am part of a very successful team. I have won trophies with Chelsea and I want to win trophies with the national team as well” Mikel told Brila FM.
“Up until this happen, I won’t be satisfied with my international career. We need to prepare well, play friendly games, and try to make sure that we get a good team before the world cup. We had a very bad outing at the last world cup so we hope that in 2014, we can play very well.”
