Man Stabs 8 Primary School Children in China

A 35-year-old man stormed a Chinese primary school on Tuesday, stabbing eight students with a kitchen knife.

The man named Chen, reportedly rushed into into the school in Macheng in the central province of Hubei and haphazardly began slashing at students with the knife, AFP reports.

Police arrested Chen at the school, and the the eight injured pupils have been hospitalized.

A 40-year old housewife, Shola Afolayan, has been sent to Kirikiri Prisons in Lagos over her husband’s loan. The mother of five kids stood as guarantor for her husband who borrowed N1.5 million from Mrs Chioma Ohaegbu to set up a business and promised to pay at a fixed date.

But according to Shola, immediately her husband collected the loan, he abandoned her and their children and fled with the money. The man is very stupid, to say the least.

Last Sunday was another anniversary celebration of the Christian Praying Assembly, Isolo, Lagos. But as at 9am when Punch correspondent got there, the imposing three black gates of the church were still shut. If not for a number of cars parked opposite the church and a middle-aged man who stood by one of the imposing gates, praying earnestly, one would have concluded that the church, founded by the convicted Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, also known as Rev. King, was on a recess.

Van Gaal Confirmed As Manchester United Manager

Louis van Gaal has been confirmed as the new manager of Manchester United, with Ryan Giggs his assistant.

The Dutchman will begin a three-year contract at Old Trafford after the conclusion of his work in charge of Netherlands at the World Cup.

Frans Hoek and Marcel Bout, countrymen of the new boss, also arrive at Old Trafford as coaches, with the former specialising in goalkeeping and the latter in scouting the opposition.

"In Louis van Gaal, we have secured the services of one of the outstanding managers in the game today," United's chief executive, Ed Woodward, said in a statement.

"He has achieved many things in his career to date and Old Trafford provides him with a fitting stage on which to write new chapters in the Manchester United story."

Man beats up wife in court premises

An Ikeja Magistrate’s court in Lagos State was turned into a battle ground when a man, Olufemi Ogbiyele, engaged his wife, Bola Ogbiyele, in a fight.

The incident, which  caused  a lot of confusion  inside the court premises, started  when a friend of the couple  pleaded with the husband to settle their case out of court but the plea fell on the latter’s  deaf ears.

Olufemi instead grabbed  his wife, descended on her and  dealt  blows  on her to the surprise of everyone present.

Reacting to the incident, counsel to the wife, Mr Shittu Oladeyinde, said, “I’m aware that a friend called them to settle their differences out of court. This appeal  infuriated Olufemi who flared up, pounced on his wife and  beat her up.’’

4 killed in Kano bomb blast —CP

A suicide car bomb attack which occured in the north Nigerian city of Kano, on Sunday, killed four people, including a young girl, the state police commissioner has said.
 

"At about 10:00 p.m., we heard an explosion and immediately mobilised to the scene where we discovered a suicide bomber... five people, including the bomber, were killed," Adelere Shinaba told reporters, adding that the victims were "three men and a girl of about 12."

According to AFP, Shinaba said it was too early to say who was responsible for the attack, which happened in the busy Sabon Giri district of the city.

 An unidentified young man in Ilobu community, in the Irepodun LGA of Osun State, was found head deep in a grave in the early hours of Wednesday May 14th, after allegedly attempting to cut off the head of a corpse, buried in Tonto compound in the area, Saturday Tribune reports

     The suspect’s accomplices fled in terror after seeing half his body get stuck mysteriously in the grave. His death has generated concern among the terrified residents of the Ilobu community.      It was gathered that the victim and his partners in crime allegedly came to Tonto compound in the early hours of Wednesday with a plot to exhume the corpse of an aged woman and sever her decomposed head, allegedly for ritual purposes.
