29 Year Old Man Kills & Buries His 7-Year-Old Daughter Over Plate Of Rice In Akwa-Ibom

The police in Rivers State have arrested a 29-year-old man, Kingsley Ekerete, who killed his seven-year-old daughter over a plate of boiled rice in Obimama, Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state.

Nigerian Tribune reports that Kingsley Ekerete, 29, a commercial driver on the fateful day of April 12, 2014, returned home like every other day at 1900hrs, already famished. He hurried down to the pot of rice he had prepared before leaving for work only to find that his also hungry daughter, Favour, had helped herself to the meal he had reserved for himself.

Syria crisis: At least 18 people killed in car bombings as ceasefire deal reached in Homs

At least 18 people, including 11 children, have been killed in car bomb attacks in two villages in Syria, according to state-run television reports.

The explosions are said to have occurred on Friday in Jabreen and Humayri, both of which are in the central province of Hama and under government control.

Rami Abdurrahman, of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told The Associated Press that the group's activists counted at least 15 dead from the blasts, including at least eight civilians.

Popular Pastor Caught With Gun During Police Stop and Search In Kogi

The Commandant-general of Mission for African Chaplaincy, a Christian organisation in Lokoja, Kogi State, Sam Keddy Balogun, has been arrested by the police for illegally possessing a firearm.

The pastor was arrested along with his bodyguard with a Toyota Hilux van painted in military colour, which registration number was concealed. The police said it was being used to hoodwink unsuspecting members of the public into believing that the organisation is a paramilitary organisation recognised by law.

    Parading both men before journalist at the police headquarters in Lokoja, the Kogi State police commissioner, Seidu Madawaki said his men also arrested one Saliu Mohammed who claims to be Pastor Balogun’s bodyguard with a short gun.

Kerry Washington & her Nigerian hubby welcome baby girl, Amarachi

Hollywood star Kerry Washington and her hubby, Nigeria’s former NFL cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha welcomed a baby girl - Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha as born on April 21 at Cedars Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles. 

Kerry, 37, and her husband, 32, gave their daughter the middle name Amarachi, meaning 'God's grace' in the language of the Igbo people of Nigeria.

Nnamdi is the American-born son of Nigerian Ibo immigrants.

He and Kerry are notoriously secretive about their personal lives and are rarely seen together in public.

The two married in secret in June in Hailey, Idaho, after stepping out together for a year.
